EMAN

 http://www.eman-network.eu/

The main goal of EMAN is to build a bridge between researchers, health professionals and policy makers and to serve as a platform where different Stakeholders within the medical sector have the opportunity to discuss and to exchange information on various topics relating to the implementation of the “As Low As Reasonably Achievable” (ALARA) principle in the medical field.

History

The European Medical ALARA Network as it currently exists is based on the idea and the findings of the European Commission-funded EMAN Tender Project which ran from January 2010 to October 2012.

Mission

The mission of the European Medical ALARA Network, beyond the completion of the EC-funded Tender Project, is to continue collaboration in medical radiation protection optimisation in order to sustain and improve the Network established under the EC Tender Project.

Structure

The EMAN Network structure includes a Steering Committee (ESR, EFRS, EFOMP), a Management Office (ESR), Stakeholders, and Observers. Some of the partners from the European Comission-funded Tender Project have committed to joining the Network, and a number of medical professional organisations and international organisations have also been invited to join the Network, including the EC, IAEA, WHO, and HERCA.
