ESMPE Hybrid school on radiation biology
EFOMP in collaboration with the Portuguese Association for Medical Physics (APFISMED) would like to invite you to the next ESMPE on 19th-21st February 2026 to be held in Porto, Portugal or attendance online is possible. This school provides medical physicists and healthcare professionals working in both imaging and therapy with a comprehensive foundation in radiation biology.
The curriculum introduces fundamental principles, including DNA damage and repair mechanisms, radiation induced cellular death (apoptosis, necrosis, mitotic catastrophe), and the distinction between deterministic and stochastic effects. It also covers molecular and cellular responses to ionizing radiation, including the roles of free radicals, bystander effects, and genomic instability.
This two and half day event will be accredited by EBAMP (European Board of Accreditation for Medical Physics). There will be an optional examination at the end for those seeking a higher level of certification beyond attendance.
Registration is available via the EFOMP website and discounted rates are offered for early career medical physicists and medical physicists from low income countries.
