RPS/RPO in health care training course

Course title and date: The Newcastle Radiation Protection Supervisors’ Training and Update Course, 6 to 7 July 2017
Venue: The Gosforth Suite, Regent Point, Regent Farm Road, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE3 3LZ, UK

Scope: This is a combined update and training course for experienced healthcare professionals new to the RPS role (6th and 7th July) and experienced radiation protection supervisors (7th July only) . It provides tuition in the principles and practices of radiation safety within an x-ray, nuclear medicine or radiotherapy environment. The course has which has been established for a number of years and will be presented by an experienced team of radiation safety professionals.

Syllabus: The course has been developed with input from all available guidance. The content has been mapped to functions listed in appendix 3 of the Medical and Dental Guidance Notes and the HSE information sheet “Radiation protection supervisors”. The format of the course and the venue selected are intended to facilitate discussion and debate amongst the candidates. Accreditation through the SCoR “CPD now” scheme has been applied for. A certificate of attendance and full course notes in hard-copy will be provided.
