Summer school in radiation biology

On August 10 - 21, 2015, the SCK•CEN Academy for Nuclear Science and Technology organized a summer school in radiation biology. The summer school in radiobiology is intended to train those who wish to enter active research in radiobiology or who wish to acquire detailed knowledge of the effects of ionizing radiations on living matter. It will also deal with the clinical aspects of radiotherapy or radio-diagnostics and with the application of radioisotopes to biological and medical problems. The age of the students is restricted to 17 to 20 years old. Students entering their last year at secondary school are welcome to apply as well as students in first, second or third year of Bachelor degree in any scientific, medical and engineering fields.

More information is available on the website of the SCK•CEN Academy.

DoReMi Training courses 2014/2015

Short courses on research into radiobiological effects of exposure to low doses of ionising radiation - sponsored by DoReMi

DoReMi is a Euratom-funded Network of Excellence set up to promote and integrate European research into the risks of exposure to low doses of ionising radiation. In addition, DoReMi will facilitate and promote training and education in support of the research programme within the project, and also make more widely available training opportunities in order to help attract top-level students into the field.

DoReMi Training Courses will be open to any postgraduate student or researcher interested in a research career in the scientific disciplines related to radiation protection.  Students outside EU can be accepted if there is space.  The admission will be decided case by case.

Following the successful series of short courses sponsored by DoReMi in 2011-2014, a further series of courses on single topics related to the research programme was held between November 2014 and July 2015.

EFOMP School for Medical Physics Experts

Following the results of the ‘Guidelines on the Medical Physics Expert’ project the Education Committee of EFOMP is encouraging its National Member Organisations to organise modules which would be specifically targeted towards Medical Physicists who would like to achieve Medical Physics Expert status.

The European School of Medical Physics (ESMP) offers a unique learning environment for soon-to-be and newly-qualified medical physicists from all over Europe.

The next session of ESMP will be held in Archamps from 19th October to 27th November 2015.

Run as a partnership between the European Scientific Institute and EFOMP, ESMP provides young medical physicists with a unique opportunity to broaden their knowledge and engage in in-depth discussion with senior medical physicists from all over Europe and beyond.

The full course programme and details of how to register can be found at http://www.esi-archamps.eu/Thematic-Schools/ESMP or www.efomp.org.
