Description of the different courses and Radiation Protection education system
Use of radiation
In Finland there are 21 approved training organisations which can arrange training and education and give certificates of RPOs in use of radiation. Competence areas are 10 different. Requirements of training of RPOs have been given in Guide ST 1.8 issued by the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (STUK). See: http://www.finlex.fi/pdf/normit/20016-ST1-8e.pdf
Training organisations are accepted for 5 years to give training of RPOs by an application, after which the approval to arrange training has to be renewed.
Use of Nuclear energy
No spesific national arrangements. Mainly education is based on the university and highschool courses. Nuclear utilities organise training themselves.
